Prologue: Waking in the Surreal Nursery

As the Guardian Angel, your journey begins looking down upon Mellow, a wide-eyed child resting in a dimly lit nursery. The environment blends charming 90s edutainment aesthetics with an underlying atmospheric unease.

Step-by-Step Walkthrough

1. Mastering the Controls & Modes

Before Mellow can leave the room, familiarize yourself with the game’s tri-mode interaction system:

• Cycle Action Modes: Press `M2` (Right Click) to toggle through:
  • View Mode (Look): Inspects background items and reveals lore thoughts.
  • Touch Mode (Interact): Grabs items, opens drawers, and activates switches.
  • Talk Mode (Dialogue): Initiates conversations with creatures and mannequins.
• Inventory Access: Click directly on Mellow’s floating baseball cap or body to inspect collected key items.
• Movement: Use `WASD` or mouse directional clicks to guide Mellow across the room.

2. Inspecting the Room & Finding the Door Knob

1. Walk Mellow over to the large wooden exit door on the right. Notice that the brass handle has been removed.
2. Head left to the open toy closet.
3. Switch to View Mode (M2) to inspect the shelf; Mellow will note that something round is buried beneath the stuffed toys.
4. Switch to Touch Mode (M2) and click the stuffed bear to shove it aside, revealing the Wooden Door Knob.
5. Pick up the knob to place it in your inventory.

3. Unlocking the Nursery Door

1. Click Mellow to open his inventory and select the Wooden Door Knob.
2. Click on the damaged door latch.
3. Turn the knob clockwise until you hear a satisfying click sound.
4. Push open the door to enter the Grand Hallway, unlocking the First Steps in the Dark achievement.
